From the discordant chants of the twisting opener “Superghost” to the fuzz-folk redemption inspiring closer “Tivoli”, The Night The Night Fell draws the listener into the unconscious journey of a girl who has tragically fallen into a coma. The lyrical and sonic atmosphere progresses throughout the 42-minute adventure over 12 tracks - from absolute despair to defiant celebration as her story, realizations and dreams unfold.

The album was recorded and mixed in Tokyo by Paul Anthony Medrano and mastered by Grammy award-winning mastering engineer Alan Douches at West West Side Music in New York (Sufjan Stevens, Animal Collective, Grizzly Bear).

『The Night The Night Fell』はMerry Christmas初のフルアルバム。不協和音とノスタルジックなメロディーが絡み合う 『Super Ghost』に始まり、光が射すようなアコースティック・ファズフォークの『Tivoli』で幕を閉じるこのアルバムは、事故で昏睡状態に陥った少女がシュールでダークな無意識の世界を冒険し、困難を越えて目覚めるまでのストーリーを描く。バンドお馴染みの様々な楽器に新たにオムニコードを加え、進化させた独自の変拍子、自由奔放な曲構成やジャンルを渡る演奏によって、少女の絶望と葛藤、挑戦から覚醒までの感情を豊かに表現している。

レコーディングとミキシングは、東京在住のサウンドエンジニア Paul Anthony Medrano、マスタリングはグラミー賞受賞マスタリングエンジニア Alan Douches (ニューヨーク、West West Side Music)。Alanは過去に Sufjan Stevens, Animal Collective, Grizzly Bear 等、数々の名作のマスタリングを手がけており、今まで音源を自主制作してきたバンドとしては大きな飛躍となった。
