Their first album “ʭɧ” was a cryptic attempt to refine the improvised work into a global structure that still allows the audience into a dense “wall-of-sound” aesthetic. And for the new album “Et Attendre”, Magrava goes further into the realm of composition as they wanted each title to have its own internal rules. Saturation is still there but more insidiously, as no musical parameter stays identical throughout the whole album.
One basic idea that connects all titles is separation/frontier at different scales: concepts, bodies, individuals, minds, etc. Philosophical and also scientific.
In that sense, the artwork created by Aurélie Raidron and the additional design by Ruò Tán are not only a beautiful presentation of the album but also stand as a direct visual reflection of their musical approach, where experimentation and dialogue generate new and exciting possibilities from (sometimes old) instruments/objects, techniques, and ideas.
